On the afternoon of August 8, 2024, at Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, a meeting was held with K&H MFG Co., Ltd. from Taiwan to discuss collaboration in training human resources in semiconductor packaging, testing, and support for educational equipment.
Overview of the Meeting
Attending the meeting from K&H were Mr. Jamie Hung, Market Development Director, and from Tecotec Group Vietnam JSC, Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. On the VKU side, there were Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector; Dr. Tran The Son, Vice Rector; and representatives from various departments, faculties, and centers within the university

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap is speaking at the meeting
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap warmly welcomed the representatives of K&H and Tecotec Vietnam to VKU. He emphasized VKU’s mission and responsibility in training and supplying high-quality human resources, conducting scientific research, and transferring knowledge and technology. With a vision to become a leading university in Vietnam and aspire to international standards in education and research, VKU operates under a modern and intelligent governance model.
Established in 2020, VKU has an annual enrollment target of 1,500 students with an average entrance score of 24 points across 14 majors in information technology, communication, and digital economics. Currently, VKU has nearly 6,000 students and aims to reach 8,000-9,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students by 2025. The faculty consists of over 250 members, including nearly 70 PhDs and associate professors, making up about 41% of the staff. VKU has also built a network of over 200 strategic partners, including domestic and international organizations and businesses involved in training, recruitment, sponsorship, and implementing bilingual global training programs in English, Japanese, and Korean. The university has also launched various activities, international academic and cultural exchange programs, and enterprise collaboration projects, with an emphasis on teaching in foreign languages. Notably, 100% of VKU students’ graduation theses are written and presented in English.
In the field of semiconductor training, VKU is the first university in the Central of Vietnam to announce the enrollment and training of semiconductor design engineers, with an expected intake of around 500 students from 2024-2027, along with the transition of 180 students from related majors to semiconductor design. Currently, VKU is organizing training courses for faculty members in semiconductor design for Da Nang City.
Furthermore, VKU is actively implementing international cooperation projects, including a $7.7 million ODA project funded by the South Korean government to develop AI and IC faculty, training programs, international student internships, and the construction of AI and IC labs with an investment of nearly VND 10 billion. Additional projects are underway to build labs with high-performance computing systems for AI and IC, with an estimated budget of nearly VND 150 billion.

During the meeting, Mr. Jamie Hung expressed his gratitude to the university’s leadership for the warm reception and was impressed by the information shared by VKU. He introduced and discussed the semiconductor design training program using the MicroWind software solution for packaging/testing, manufacturing processes, and the system of laboratories and practice rooms. He also explored collaboration in semiconductor design, ATP, packaging/testing with the 2+2, 3+1, and 3+2 models at Chung Yuan Christian University and Lunghwa University, Taiwan.
At the end of the meeting, the university leadership welcomed and expressed readiness to cooperate with the company in training semiconductor human resources to contribute to the workforce supply for both the Da Nang (Vietnam) market and the global market. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the research space at the eSTI (Digital Science and Technology Institute) and the university’s semiconductor labs and practice rooms.
