On the afternoon of July 11, 2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), a member of Danang University, hosted a meeting with Cheongju University (CJU) from Korea.
Overview of the meeting
Attending from CJU, Korea, was Mr. Kim Young Jin, Head of CJU’s Representative Office in Vietnam. From VKU, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector, along with leaders from departments, faculties, and centers of the university, were present.

Dr Huynh Ngoc Tho expressing his pleasure in welcoming CJU’s representatives back to VKU following their initial exchange and exploration visit in 2023 to discuss suitable collaborative training programs. He also shared recent achievements of VKU, which has now nearly 6,000 students, and has expanded its offerings to include majors/minors in Marketing, Information Security, Communication Technology, and Microelectronic Design Engineering. The university’s 2024 admissions process featured highly competitive early admission standards ranging from 24 to 27 points across all majors/minors, with a high volume of applications. Additionally, VKU actively promotes collaborative programs such as 2+2, 3+1 transfers, academic exchanges, and enhanced Korean language training for students.

Mr. Kim Young Jin expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the positive signals from VKU. He introduced CJU as a private university established in 1947, located in Cheongju City, the capital of Chungcheongbuk Province, Korea. CJU excels in engineering, business, and arts majors, boasting approximately 850 faculty members and nearly 15,000 students, including about 900 international students. Besides, CJU operates 7 undergraduate schools with 62 departments and 61 postgraduate programs, offering internationally oriented teaching facilities and quality. Currently, CJU has partnerships with 189 universities in 29 countries worldwide.
Through discussions and mutual exploration, CJU proposed collaboration on implementing 2+2, 3+1 transfer programs, and a Master’s program in Information Technology at CJU. Particularly, for academic exchange programs, VKU students with a Topik 2B level of Korean proficiency can participate. To prepare for student admissions, CJU will collaborate with VKU to offer Korean language training courses and suitable scholarship policies for VKU students.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of both sides highly agreed and committed to implementing MoU cooperation to proceed with detailed implementation of the programs in September 2024.
