On the morning of July 6, 2024, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), The University of Danang organized a Training Conference on Self-Assessment for Higher Education Institutions with the goal of completing accreditation certifying according to regulations in Circular 12/2017/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Overview of the Conference
Attending the Conference, there was Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet – Expert of Educational accreditation, and also a reporter, along with leaders, officials, and lecturers at the university.

Speaking at the Conference, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector expressed his thanks to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet – Leading expert of educational accreditation for participating and reporting at the Conference. Thereby, the Vice Rector also shared and appreciated the spirit and responsibility of all officials and lecturers at the university who have made efforts to complete the educational accreditation of 3 training programs in recent times. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, VKU will have to implement assessment and accreditation in the first 5-year period. Therefore, the training conference plays an important role, providing us with knowledge and experience in collecting evidence and information to serve the work of self-assessment and educational accreditation.
Educational accreditation is one of the key tasks in the period of international integration required by the Ministry of Education and Training. The objectives of the educational accreditation according to Article 49 – Law on Higher Education 2012: Ensure and improve the quality of higher education; Confirm the extent to which the higher education institution or training program meets the goals through each given period; Set the foundation for higher education institutions to explain to competent state agencies and the society about the current situation of the educational quality; Serve as a basis for learners to choose higher education institutions, training programs and recruiters.
The results of educational accreditation are used as one of the criteria to stratify and rank higher education institutions; serve as a basis for determining quality, status and reputation of higher education institutions; implement the autonomy and self-responsibility; investment support and task assignment; be the base for the State and the society to monitor the activities of higher education institutions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet – Quality assurance expert reported an overview of the process of accreditation for higher education institutions, guided the process to compose self-assessment reports, and to collect evidence.
In addition to general knowledge, the reporter and the participants discussed and practiced writing one criterion in order to get comments via illustrative examples. This has created positivity in the acquisition of knowledge and experience, contributing to the implementation of collecting evidence and building a self-assessment report in the coming time.
Participants receive certificates of completion
At the end of the training conference, participants were granted certificates of completion for the training program of Self-Assessment on Higher Education Institutions. This is one of the important premises for the University to successfully implement self-assessment and educational accreditation of educational institutions according to regulations, contributing to improving the reputation and position of the University in the future.
